Our Leadership

The Pastoral Council is a faith-based advisory group that assists the Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and the Principal of Sacred Heart School. Its responsibilities include establishing the Mission, Vision, Goals, and Objectives for the Parish. The Pastoral Council creates, guides, and implements the Strategic Plan to ensure effective planning for the future growth and excellence of the Parish. Additionally, the Council collaborates with other councils and commissions within the Parish and School to provide support and alignment in their efforts.

We focus on Four Pillars:

1. Community Worship and Sacraments

2. Faith Formation

3. Youth Campus Ministry

4. Stewardship

Council members work to promote communication within the parish community through dialogue, foster understanding among parishioners, parish organizations, the archdiocese, and the universal Church.  They collaborate with the Pastor on various issues related to the parish and recommend priorities and direction through long-range planning and visioning.

The Sacred Heart Finance Council is a consultative body that advises the pastor on the management of the parish’s financial resources. Its main responsibilities include:

• Conducting long-term financial planning to address both operational and capital needs within the parish.
• Developing and overseeing the parish budgeting process, which results in an annual budget.
• Providing financial analysis of current fiscal status reports.
• Evaluating the financial implications of proposed goals, strategies, programs, and administrative aspects of parish life.

The council meets monthly. Members benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of the parish organization and the archdiocesan financial policies that apply to our parish. For more information, please contact Bridget Darrow, Pastoral Assistant for Administration.

The Parish Family Advisory Council is the key consultive body for One Parish Planning. It represents both parishes in our parish family. The council’s focus is to help our parish family discern its future parish life. During the stages of planning they will assist with various tasks including listening sessions, synthesizing input from parishioners, and creating an initiative report.

The Worship Commission supports the mission of Sacred Heart Parish by:

• Assessing the parish’s needs in liturgy and devotion.
• Recommending liturgical and sacramental policies that are consistent with archdiocesan and universal church norms.
• Consulting on liturgical planning, music ministry, liturgical ministers, and the liturgical environment.

Members of the Worship Commission are responsible for setting goals and standards for the overall liturgical life and activities of the parish. This includes:

• Assessing the diverse worship and spiritual needs of the parish.
• Recommending permanent art and environmental aspects of the worship space.
• Recruiting, training, and supporting liturgical ministers.
• Preparing liturgies for the feasts and seasons of the liturgical year.
• Reviewing past liturgies to ensure the parish's needs are being met.

Being a member of the Worship Commission provides an opportunity to learn more about liturgy, deepen one’s appreciation of the richness of our Catholic liturgical tradition, and actively support the liturgical and spiritual life of the parish.  For more information, please contact volunteer@sacredheart.org.

The School Commission serves as a faith-based advisory body to both the Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and the Principal of Sacred Heart School.  Its responsibilities include establishing the school’s Mission, Vision, and Goals.

The Commission is tasked with creating and implementing a Strategic Plan to ensure effective planning for the school’s future growth and excellence. Additionally, it develops and evaluates school policies, financing structures (including tuition rates, financial development, and fundraising initiatives), as well as marketing and communication strategies for the school.

The School Commission is composed of seven or more members, appointed by the Pastor and Principal.  This includes the President and President-Elect of the Parents’ Club. Members are typically parents of students at Sacred Heart School or active members of Sacred Heart Parish.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, during the school year.

The Community Outreach Commission is grounded in our baptismal call and invites all parishioners to discover and share the gifts God has given them, especially with those who are less fortunate.

The mission of the Community Outreach Commission is to educate the members of the Sacred Heart Parish Community to act justly by sharing their time, talents, and treasures.  We provide opportunities for service and coordinate social initiatives undertaken by the Sacred Heart Community.

The Community Outreach Commission fulfills this vision by collaborating with the following organizations:

• In September, we partner with Congregations for Kids to collect backpacks and school supplies for children in Bellevue from families with limited or minimal income.
• In November, we work with Porchlight to provide evening meals for homeless men.
• We offer pregnancy and parenting support through Prepares.
• We support Jubilee Reach, which assists Bellevue area school children and families in need through the Groceries for Families Program.
• We collaborate with Sophia’s Way, which serves homeless women on the Eastside.
• We engage with St. Francis Mission, our sister school located on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota.

The Parish Family Building & Grounds Committee serves a vital role in guiding the pastor to enhance and preserve the physical properties of our beloved parish family campuses.  With a wealth of experience, our members bring their vision to life by planning new projects and implementing programs that sustain the longevity of our existing facilities.  We invite passionate individuals to join us on this meaningful journey.  For more information, please contact Bridget Darrow, Pastoral Assistant for Administration at Sacred Heart.
