Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

Night sky with city and cross

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or OCIA, is designed for those who are considering joining the Catholic Church through celebrating the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil.  The process welcomes adults who have never been baptized and those who have been baptized in another Christian tradition.  OCIA helps adults grow in their relationship with God, become familiar with Catholic teachings and practices, get acquainted with the faith community, and get involved in service within the community as a whole.

Who is OCIA intended for?

  • Adults and Teens who have never been baptized.
  • Adults and Teens who have been baptized in another Christian denomination.
  • Adults and Teens who simply want to learn more about the Catholic faith (e.g. the spouse of a Catholic who wants to learn more about the Church).
  • Adults and Teens who were baptized Catholic but never received First Communion or Confirmation.
