For Children ages 5 to 10

Sacred Heart Parish recognizes parents as the main leaders in transmitting their faith in the lives of their children.  We are here to accompany and guide parents with their children to a relationship with God through prayer and action.

Faith Formation for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th is rooted in Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God.

Sessions will begin on September 14, 2025.

Classes will be held in the portable classroom located in the upper Sacred Heart parking lot, every Sunday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATION  

During the Sunday 11 am Mass, we offer the Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) for children pre-kindergarten thru first grade.  The celebrant invites them forward for a blessing before they are guided by a catechist and helper to nearby meeting room.  They will hear age- appropriate versions of the readings, sing, and engage in activities and discussion that reinforce each week's Gospel Message.  After the homily, the children will return to the Church Nave to join their families before the Liturgy of the Eucharist.  This program aims to enrich their faith and participation in the Mass.

CLOW takes place from September to June and resumes after the summer break.

Volunteer helpers are needed to accompany children during transitions and help them to participate.  Weekly resources and training are provided.  A background check and Safe Environment Training are required.

The liturgical life of the Church is centered on the Sacraments.  We are excited to accompany your child on this meaningful sacramental journey.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are offered to children baptized in the Catholic Church, ages 7 and up.  The preparation process invites both children and parents to engage together.  Children must be in the second year of a parish faith formation program, or the second year of attending a Catholic school, or the second year of a home-school faith formation program approved by the Archdiocese of Seattle.
