Confirmation for Teens

Night sky with city and cross

Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation.  The other two are Baptism and Eucharist.  It is the sacrament that celebrates the presence of God’s special strength and gifts in a baptized person.  Confirmation is important because it helps the person become a better Christian by bearing witness to the Lord and by growing in faith.  It also helps a person meet the challenges in life with strength, wisdom, and courage given by the Holy Spirit.

For Youth, grades 7-12, wanting to receive Confirmation, preparation classes will begin this fall.  The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. For more information, please contact Kelsey Heintz, Pastoral Assistant for Middle School Youth Ministry.

Preparation for Confirmation

Our Sacrament of Confirmation preparation program centers on a series of transformative retreats rather than traditional weekly classes.  These retreats cover all essential topics required by the Archdiocese of Seattle while offering our youth meaningful opportunities to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through this immersive retreat experience, our 7th graders preparing for Confirmation will participate in:

  • In-depth Exploration: Each retreat will explore key aspects of our faith, guided by Catholic teachings and tradition.
  • Community Building: At the first retreat, each Confirmation candidate will join a small group led by a dedicated leader who will support them throughout the year. These groups will meet at least three additional times outside the retreats to build friendships and offer further opportunities for spiritual growth and encouragement among peers.
  • Personal Encounter: We strive to create an environment where each participant can encounter Christ personally through prayer, reflection, and the sacraments. Developing this relationship with Christ is central to Sacrament preparation, as it is the most important relationship in one’s life.

I am so excited to be the Middle School Youth and Campus Minister for Sacred Heart and St. Monica Parish Family! I have been volunteering in youth ministry at my home parish for the past ten years and I am looking forward to building a fun and lasting program for this parish family! Some fun facts about me are that I am a licensed Esthetician, I’m an only child, and I have my black belt in taekwondo! In my free time I love spending time with my friends, reading, traveling, or learning a new hobby. I can’t wait to meet you so feel free to say hi if you see me!
