Becoming Catholic
How to begin your Catholic faith journey
Interested in becoming Catholic? The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is designed for adults who wish to explore the Catholic faith. The first step in the OCIA process is inquiry, where you can learn and ask questions in a nonjudgmental atmosphere.
You are invited to attend weekly OCIA classes at Sacred Heart, where you will explore Catholicism and embark on a spiritual journey of inquiry. Classes will resume this fall and are held on Mondays at 6:30 PM at Sacred Heart Parish.
Every year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands of men and women are welcomed into the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. Through the OCIA, parishes receive these new members during a liturgy that brings men, women, and children into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. During this ceremony, they will receive the sacraments of initiation: baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist.
