THE 2025 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL – THANK YOU!

THANK YOU to everyone who has generously responded to the needs of our regional Church by supporting the 2025 Annual Catholic Appeal!  We greatly appreciate that we have exceeded our Archdiocesan goal of $197,500 by over 136%. Additionally, more than 260 parish families have participated with gifts and pledges. Your contributions to the Annual Catholic Appeal help our parish and the archdiocese carry on the ministries and mission of the Catholic Church in Western Washington. If you are still considering making a gift, please click here. Any additional donations will help support our parish project with the replacement of the roof of the original parish offices along 14th Street.

Weekly Lessons on the Sacred Liturgy

Behold the Lamb

"Having prepared the gifts and himself for the sacrifice of the altar, the Priest invites us to stand and pray saying, “Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.” Again, we are reminded that we offer our own sacrifices in union with Jesus’ Sacrifice about to be offered on the altar. In response, we say, “May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church.” Here, we acknowledge that the sacrifice is offered at the hands of the Priest, in hopes of attaining three things: the praise and glory of God, our own good, and the good of the Church. In this, we are reminded that this Sacrifice is also a petition, asking God to grant us what is good for God Himself and what is good for us and all of humanity. These are the fruits of the commands, “love God” and “love your neighbor as yourself”. When we love, we “will the good of the other,” says St. Thomas Aquinas. Therefore, as we call upon God to grant these things through this Sacrifice offered, we are also reminded that in partaking of this Sacrifice, we are called to continued conversion and transformation so that these fruits may truly be made manifest in the world through us.
The Priest concludes the Preparation of the Gifts by orating the Prayer over the Offering for the day to which we respond, “Amen.”"
