Holy Orders/Vocations
How is God calling you to serve him?
Through our Baptism, all Christians unite in a common priesthood of believers, answering the call to participate in Christ’s mission. In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, bishops and priests embrace a vital role in carrying out this sacred purpose. Deacons, too, receive a special grace through Ordination, empowering them to support the ministry of bishops and priests (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1547, 1554).
Those who receive the sacrament of Holy Orders are consecrated in Christ’s name "to feed the Church by the word and grace of God." Ordained ministers dedicate themselves to the Church through teaching, divine worship, and pastoral governance. They stand as representatives of Christ, proclaimers of the Word, pastoral ministers, presiders of the Eucharist, builders of community, missionaries, advocates for the poor, and faithful servants.
